The Roof Top, Mariposa Hotel
The Mariposa Hotel Roof Terrace is one of the latest terraces to open in Málaga. It is on top of the stylish boutique hotel of the same name, located very centrally in Soho Málaga. The terrace is laid back and pleasantly designed with natural woods. It is quite spacious compared with some, with one half of the roof being a dedicated sun deck with loungers, and the other half is the bar terrace. It affords views across the urban jumble of rooftops and has a distinctly city feel to it.
It is open from 4pm until late. While the solarium is really of interest to the hotel guests, the terrace is open to all and a great place to repair to for a relaxing drink. The skyline is picturesque enough in a sense with a mixture of old and new buildings across the skyline. The spaciousness of the terrace is relaxing, and the tables are not crowded up to each other. If you are looking to relax rather than huddle with the party crowd, then this is a great terrace. That's not to say they don't know how to party. Being spacious it's ideal for events and parties, and can handle plenty of people without feeling crowded. The modern chunky plastic chandeliers create a great ambience after dark, and contrast splendidly with the deepening blues and oranges of the night sky, which is usually clear!
Some intriguing funky figurative sculptures adorn the terrace and the atmosphere after dark is warm, modern and welcoming. They serve proper Malaga beer, Victoria, at the bar, as well as some good cocktails. Ironically you can see two other roof terraces from here, and there's another just a block away, so if you fancy a terrace crawl of a night, you really don't have to walk too far around here.
The hotel is run by two hard working, adventurous French sisters, Amelie and Audrey Pignol who took over the hotel in early 2017 and have given it a special elegant modern boutique flavour. As it becomes more well known it will no doubt grow its own character, so pay it a visit and enjoy the night sky for a ceiling and the cool arty vibes that Soho is all about.
